How do I submit my satirical ideas?

Email submissions to writeforus@hollerback.org. Our editors will select the best submissions and build them into the system -- they'll be classified, formated, images will be cropped, etc. You will be contacted if tweaks are required or suggested. If needed for any reason, we can remove, or you can have your submitted content removed at any time.

If you prefer your content to be published under a different name, please note that in the submission. All posts on HollerBack.org are for publicity purposes only and compensation is not offered. Not all submissions are published, but all are considered -- so good luck! We look forward to hearing from you.

How are submissions picked?

At HollerBack.org, we pick user submitted stories and articles on funniness, originality, effictive use of satire, and of course, smell. We've seen a lot of funny ideas, so be original. We like big national ideas as well as everyday observations.

Avoid certain over-done topics that will instantly turn us off, like "Dick Cheney does something violent," or "Brittney Spears yada yada." News is fast-paced and writing satre is tricky because a story on a hot topic today, will be old news and un-funny tomorrow.

Here's a good catch-22 for you to follow: Hone your ideas so they're broad enough that they'll sound like current events, but still work six months from now.

If you're writing politically-centered content, ask yourself if your article would be funny to those with different political leanings. If not, consider presenting it from an angle that remains true to your original points, AND retian the other segments of your audience.
